This class focuses on the skills required to receive the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. You can find more information about the CGC program here. In addition to the CGC skills your dog will also learn to stay with greater distance and distractions and while you are out of site, hand signals for sit and lie down, sit and lie down from a distance, come to front, and stand for examination or grooming.
The last week of class you and your dog will be given the Canine Good Citizen test (if desired) by an AKC CGC evaluator. The prerequisite for this class is Beginner Obedience class or the instructor's approval.
